Taking yoga classes can be very beneficial. It is actually one of the reasons why I pursued it in the first place. I like how I can be instrumental in getting yoga to help other people. With the classes that I lead, people are able to deal with body pains and gain peace of mind. It is also a great outlet for stress. It gives me great joy when I hear one of my students tell me how yoga has helped their lives significantly.
How I started as a yoga instructor
If you asked me if I wanted to become a yoga instructor when I was young, I would have looked at you like you were crazy. I never even knew what it was about. But when I was young, I got into a bad accident that left me with a chronic back pain. No matter what I did, the pain never really went away.
One of the nurses who I became friends with while I was in the hospital suggested that I try yoga. I was skeptical at first but I did my research before I actually signed up for one of the yoga classes near our place.
Apparently, there are a couple of reasons why this is a good idea. First of all, lower back pain is considered a psychosomatic disorder. That means it is both caused by the body and the brain. It is just like when you are angry. Your body involuntarily feels tense. The same is true for lower back pain. It is fueled by stressful moments in your life. So if yoga can relax your mind and body, it can help alleviate the pain you are feeling.
Not only that, yoga is all about strengthening and lengthening muscles. Every yoga pose involves stretching and a bit of exertion. Both can help your lower back muscles. If you use yoga poses that can align your body properly, that would make things a lot better for you.
To cut a long story short, the yoga classes I took were able to effectively relieve me of my back pain. It was not an overnight relief, but it slowly progressed over time. Soon, I found myself wanting to pursue yoga deeply.
About my yoga classes
Before I became qualified to teach yoga classes, I had to do a lot of training myself. Every form is very important. It has to be perfect. I traveled to India in order to learn from the best. The trip was actually very enlightening. I loved every minute of it. I believe that after that trip, I was actually a different person.
Now, I teach classes a couple of times a week. I also find myself getting private sessions – sometimes with an individual and others with a smaller group. I recently started working with corporate clients. There was this one business that wanted to help their employees find relief from stress. I was scheduled to give one or two classes a week. I am happy to say that my yoga classes were able to help the employees significantly. That makes this career very rewarding. It is more than the money actually. The thought that I can help make a difference in people’s lives is a different kind of reward on its own.
